Actor and race driver Patrick Dempsey plays one third of a love triangle in"Bridget Jones's Baby,"the third installment in the film franchise. Although he was in the middle of a successful racing season, Dempsey said he was happy to join the cast as the American love interest for Bridget (Renee Zellweger). Asked why he took the role, Dempsey said,"This was quite clearly what I should be doing next."
米医療ドラマシリーズ「グレイズ・アナトミー」で人気を博した米国人俳優のパトリック・デンプシーさん(50)。「ブリジット・ジョーンズの日記」シリーズ最新作に出演し、日本での公開を前亡来日した。レーシングドライバーとしても活躍していたデンプシーさんに出演依頼が来たのは、レースに専念するために俳優業を休止していたときのこと。それでも役を引き受けた理由を「これこそ自分が次に取り組むベき仕事だと確信したんだ」と話した。
