gegenschein
対日照（たいにちしょう）とは、天球上で太陽とほぼ反対側に見える、黄道光に続くやや明るい、面積を持った光芒。

At first it seems imaginary, a haze against the sky, hard to make out with all the stellar objects clamoring for attention, but as the night progresses you will see it is a faint disk. It is called the gegenschein, the counterglow.
